Within our sea freight service we organise both FCL and LCL container shipping, combine smaller consignments into consolidated loads and arrange door-to-door or port-to-port delivery according to the chosen Incoterms. We plan routes, coordinate schedules with shipping lines and ports and prepare the necessary shipping documents, including bills of lading and cargo manifests. Thanks to reliable partners we can handle project cargo, oversized and heavy shipments, ensuring that sea transportation remains a cost-effective and predictable solution for your long-distance logistics.
How our sea freight process works
We organise international sea freight using FCL and LCL solutions according to the cargo volume, route, schedule and delivery requirements.
- Shipment details — you provide the origin, destination, cargo description, number of packages, dimensions, weight and volume.
- FCL or LCL selection — we select the suitable container or consolidation solution.
- Booking and documentation — cargo space is booked and the necessary shipping documents are prepared.
- Pre-carriage and customs — collection, delivery to the port and export customs procedures can be coordinated where required.
- Sea transportation — the shipment moves according to the selected carrier route and sailing schedule.
- Arrival and final delivery — import clearance and onward road transportation can also be organised where required.
FCL and LCL sea freight
FCL (Full Container Load) is suitable for larger shipments that require a dedicated container. It provides greater control over container loading and is often the preferred solution for larger cargo volumes.
LCL (Less than Container Load) allows smaller shipments to share container space with other cargo. It can be a practical option when the shipment does not require a full container.
We select the transport solution according to cargo volume, characteristics, route and delivery requirements.
Documents for sea freight
Depending on the shipment and route, sea freight documentation may include:
- commercial invoice;
- packing list;
- Bill of Lading or other applicable transport document;
- customs documentation;
- certificates or permits required for specific goods;
- additional documents required under the agreed Incoterms or destination-country regulations.
Incoterms and door-to-door transportation
Sea freight can involve several transport stages: collection from the supplier, export clearance, port handling, ocean transportation, import clearance and final delivery.
The responsibilities of the seller and buyer depend on the agreed Incoterms. AW Logistics can coordinate the transport stages assigned to the customer and combine sea freight with customs clearance and road transportation where required.
